From a TikTok matcha to your everyday cup
Start with the recipe behind the video
A layered matcha latte looks striking on screen, but a useful recipe also tells you how much tea, water and milk to use. Save those quantities so you can repeat the result.
Lighting, filters and ingredients can change how a drink looks. Colour in a video is not enough to judge the quality, origin or taste of a tea. Read the actual product information.
Make a smooth base first
Sift the powder and whisk it with water before adding milk or ice. For an iced latte, our starting recipe uses 3 g matcha, 60 ml water and 150 ml milk, plus ice.
Pour the base over the milk for layers, then stir before drinking if you want a more even flavour. Follow our iced matcha latte recipe for the full method.
Make the flavour your own
Taste before adding syrup. Milk and plant-based drinks differ in sweetness and texture, so the same tea can taste different when you change the milk.
Try berries or a little vanilla if you enjoy flavoured drinks. Change one ingredient at a time and write down your preferred quantities. Our recipe collection includes simple variations.
Look beyond the trend
Matcha comes from a production process and a place. All Matchatori matcha comes from Japan, and individual product pages give you the relevant origin and flavour information.
Choose by how you plan to drink it and what you enjoy. A repeatable recipe and a tea that suits your taste are more useful than trying to recreate the exact colour of a video.
