How to use Matchatori

Preparing matcha is a simple ritual filled with beauty and intention. We recommend using a bamboo whisk for the best experience, but an electric whisk is a good alternative if you don’t have one.

Step 1

Add 1/2 teaspoon (approximately 2g) of matcha into a bowl. While sifting is usually suggested to achieve a smooth and clump-free consistency, Matchatori’s incredibly fine powder is crafted to be whisked easily without the need for sifting, saving you time while still delivering a perfect result.

Step 2

The preferred matcha whisking technique is the "M" or "W" motion, where you whisk briskly in a zigzag pattern using light wrist movements to create a smooth, frothy layer with no clumps or large bubbles.

Step 3

If you prefer a lighter consistency, add more water, or for a creamier texture, use your favorite milk—whether dairy or plant-based. Stir thoroughly to ensure a smooth blend, then take a moment to savor and enjoy your matcha!

Yame Fukuoka

Yame (八女市) is a city in Fukuoka Prefecture, located on Japan's Kyushu island. It’s a region famous for producing some of Japan's highest-quality matcha and gyokuro (a type of shaded green tea).

The city, especially the mountainous areas like Hoshino Village, has ideal conditions for tea cultivation: mineral-rich soil, morning mists, and an abundance of natural springs, which together help create rich, umami flavors in the tea leaves.

Yame matcha, in particular, is celebrated for its deep, complex flavor and smooth, creamy finish, making it highly prized both within Japan and internationally. Tea from Yame is often used in traditional tea ceremonies, and the region also has a strong culture of tea craftsmanship, with tea farmers often following centuries-old practices to cultivate and process the leaves.
